Imagine someone sitting in a darkened room, insisting it's night outside. Even when the sun is shining brightly, they refuse to open the curtains. This is a perfect example of Maya.
We often make excuses to avoid spiritual practice. We might say, "I'll start tomorrow," or "I'm waiting for a special Master." These are all forms of illusion that keep us away from God.
Time is precious. As we age, our opportunities to connect with the divine become fewer. If we can't find the time to meditate now, how can we expect to do so in old age? As old age comes with bag of issues of it's own.
Our minds play tricks on us, seeking comfort in thinking if we practice, then all the issues/worries of present and past will surround me. They want to stay in illusion because they fear the unknown. But if we don't make an effort now, we will deplete our resources and find ourselves in a worse situation.
Stop making excuses and start acting. Don't wait for a special day, time, or person. Rise up and make a sincere effort now, and everything else will fall into place.
