By honoring our mothers, we express gratitude for the sacrifices they made to bring us into the world and the values they instilled in us. This appreciation can extend to a recognition of the ultimate source of life, the divine Mother or God, who gave us life and watches over us with unconditional love.
The biggest power that exists out there is the power of the mother. There is a recurring theme that emerges in ancient text/stories (such as puranas) that the ultimate power of the mother. Whenever evil rises in the universe, a new female force, a mother (Maa), emerges to vanquish it.
There's a belief that a mother's love is the closest we come to experiencing unconditional love, a love offered freely without expectation. Mothers nurture not just humans, but all living creatures – birds, fish, animals – with this powerful instinct. Perhaps it's this profound connection that leads us to call our planet Mother Earth and our homeland, our motherland.
I sometimes wonder if the profound love of a mother can be experienced in another way – through the role of a Guru or Master. Like mothers, Gurus offer constant blessings and accept their students unconditionally. They love their students deeply and always have their best interests at heart. Similar to a child seeking guidance from their mother, students turn to their Guru for support during life's challenges. Just as children share their joys and sorrows with their mothers, students connect with their Guru during both difficult and celebratory times. In this way, the role of a Guru can truly resemble that of a mother.
In the end, I will say there is no other person like a mother/mom/maa. Happy Mothers day to all mothers. I also feel all the Guru/Master a *Divine Mother* dwells within you as well. I bow to you all. 🙏
